“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.” ~Berthold Auerback

Today’s post for Creativity Boot Camp spoke about music and it’s impact on a person’s emotional process. We were encouraged to go back to our younger years, when emotions were flourishing at their finest, and think about the music that really moved our souls and spoke to our spirits. Music that stirs up those old feelings we may have been repressing all these years past. For really it’s only through emotion, wild and crazy, that we are able to create the amazing. So I thought about it for a bit. I took myself back to a completely different time, back to when I was a completely different person. Back to the fresh innocence of my youth, to a emotional charged and confusing time. There is one song, from one band, that has carried me through it all. I listen to this one song and the memories, a sheer multitude of them, come flooding back to me, overtaking me. This song has been there in the background through so much of my life, through so many different stages. Through the good times and the bad. Through marriage and divorce. Through depression and recovery. It was just always there, in the background. Playing over and over and over.

“Change and growth take place when a person has risked himself and dares to become involved with experimenting in his own life.”
